William Ross
Will Ross - Goalkeeper - Class of 2019
My name Is Will Ross. I am interested in playing soccer at the highest level, and in attending a college where I can excel academically and on the field. I plan to major in a Business/Entrepreneurship or Finance program.
I committed to the position of goalkeeper early in my club experience, and have dedicated myself to training both with my team and privately. I have attended many private goalkeeping training sessions, and many summer camps where I have met a lot of great coaches. Some people may look at the goalkeeper as the last defender, I also consider myself the first attacker. I have excellent distribution skills, and am able to communicate with my defenders and play with my feet comfortably, even while under pressure.
I have had the experience of playing soccer internationally, attending an ISL/FC Barcelona camp in Barcelona, Spain, in November of 2014. I really loved playing against high level international players, and the experience of playing in Spain was one I will never forget. While at Camp Nou I had the amazing experience of seeing Messi break the La Liga goalscoring record.
I play goalkeeper for my club team, for my high school team, and I played for the South Carolina ODP program, where I represented South Carolina at the Region III camp in Alabama. I am very honored to have been named as the starting goalkeeper and Captain of my Northwestern High School JV team when I was a sophomore!
At Northwestern High School, I am taking honors and AP classes. My GPA as of the end of the fall 2018 semester is 4.1. I have held a leadership position by serving on student council since the beginning of my freshman year. I am aware of the NCAA requirements for athletic eligibility and am focused on maintaining an excellent academic record. My most recent ACT score was 28, and I plan to try to improve upon that this summer.
I do have other interests when I am not studying or training - I love performance cars, I am an accomplished snow skier, and I am an Advanced Open Water PADI certified scuba diver! I am not afraid of moguls, sharks, or strikers! My dream car is a Koenigsegg Agera R. I'd love a ride in one if you know any billionaires!
